AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS SOFTBALL - BOYS'

Softball this year was awesome! We won the Central Counties and the Counties tournaments, and then we went on to represent Counties in the Auckland Championships.  Although we did not come first place, we all had a lot of fun. In pool play we won two games and had the chance to play off for fifth or sixth.  We won the game and were placed fifth overall which was a great effort.  We took two students from Takanini School. They were Rasta, a really good pitcher, and Peni, a home run hitter.  They helped us a lot along the way.  Thanks to Theo, Jess, Mrs T and Miss Doran for supporting us in the three tournaments we went to.

Awesome pitching Summer!

Aurora

On Thursday the 10th of March, the Year 7 and 8 Girls softball team went to Albany to compete in the Auckland Championships. We left at 7:15am and made it there at 8:30am. We played 5 games. We won three games and lost two games.  After winning two pool games we lost the semi final against Wesley Intermediate  In the final round we played for off for third and fourth.  We won that game against Sir Edmund Hillary and were placed third. We would like to thank all our supporters and also we would like to give a big thank you to Miss Doran, Marilyn and Jessica as we wouldn’t of made it this far without you.

RED AND BLACK DAY!!!!!

On Friday the 4th of March, Randwick Park School held a RED and BLACK day to raise money for the Canterbury Earthquake fund. Room 22 decided we would sell (red and black) iced biscuits and coke (black) and raspberry (red) spiders to make extra money.

Firstly, we had to learn how to make butter icing (yummy!) to decorate our biscuits. We used food colouring to make it red and black. To make our biscuits look and taste even better we used jelly crystals, chocolate hail and lollies on top.

At interval we sold our creations - they were very popular! At the end of the day we had made $185.20.  Thanks to all those who supported us by buying our food and drink!

On the 23rd of February two Softball teams - Boys' and Girls' - participated in the 2011 Counties Softball tournament. Both teams had already been successful at the Central Counties event earlier in the term.

The Girls' team were unbeaten throughout the tournament defeating Mansell, Pukekohe, Weymouth, Greenmeadows and Manuewa Intermediates as well as Rosehill College.  The Boys' team won against Mansell, Pukekohe, Weymouth, Greenmeadows and Manuewa Intermediates.  They as had a draw in a tense game with Rosehill College.  Their better for and against home run record saw them crowned champions.

A big thanks to Marilyn, Theo and Jess for helping out at practices and at the tournament!
